The word bodice might mean the close-fitting upper part of a dress, but the brand Bodice is a label that’s almost synonymous with new age Indian fashion.
The brainchild of the International Woolmark prize-winning designer Ruchika Sachdeva, Bodice’s inspiration comes from India: its culture, its art, and its people. The brand creates wardrobe staples using an amalgam of art, history, and pretty much everything that’s around us, to create androgynous garments using precise tailoring and finishing.
The brand might be locally rooted, but its fabrics are globally sourced. From travelling to remote rural villages to work with artisans and craftsmen, to flying to Australia to the Merino wool farms –– Sachdeva’s devotion to her craft is what has helped Bodice constantly evolve. She says that ‘soft tailoring is the core of Bodice while the silhouettes are clean and strong. It means we consistently create comfortable, wearable and stylish clothing.’
Handcrafted and created in India, Bodice’s creations epitomise contemporary fashion in the country, and yet, are globally appealing. Fluidity, grace, panache, and reinvention –– Bodice is one of the best in the business for a reason.
